While doula services are typically paid out of pocket, many of our families receive partial or even full reimbursement through their Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), private insurance, or employer-sponsored maternity benefits.
To help make the process as smooth as possible, we work with certified doulas who meet the credentialing requirements established by many third-party payers—giving you one less thing to worry about.
Health Savings & Flexible Spending Accounts
Using your HSA or FSA is often the simplest way to pay for postpartum doula services. Because doula care may qualify as an eligible medical expense under IRS guidelines, many families are able to use their pre-tax healthcare funds.
Before using your HSA or FSA, you’ll need a Letter of Medical Necessity from your OB or other qualified healthcare provider. This letter confirms that postpartum doula care is medically necessary and allows your HSA/FSA administrator to process your reimbursement.
